Focusing On Children Under Stress

Helping schools respond with care after trauma.

The FOCUS Program helps children achieve academically at their highest levels despite traumatic circumstances by strengthening communication between first responders, educators, and community partners.

Program Philosophy

Children should be able to learn and succeed, regardless of the environment they live in.

Support After Crisis

When a child may have been exposed to violence or trauma, first responders can send a simple FOCUS notification to the school district and school of attendance.

School Awareness

Teachers and school staff receive early notice that a child may need understanding, flexibility, and trauma-sensitive support during the school day.

Community Partnership

The program connects first responders, schools, and community resources so children and families can access help sooner and with less confusion.

How It Works

A simple notification, followed by thoughtful care.

For First Responders

When a first responder encounters a child who may have been exposed to a traumatic event, the child’s name, date of birth, and school can be submitted through the FOCUS app.
